A Bible Study Luncheon on the first eight books of the best-selling prophetic novels of the "Left Behind" series was conducted Feb. 13 through April 3, 2001, at Shoney's Restaurant on U.S. 1 in Aberdeen, NC.

The "Left Behind" movie video was also used during the Bible study.

Sponsored by New Freedom Baptist Mission of Pinehurst, the "Left Behind" Bible Study Luncheon met from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays in the group meeting room at Shoney's. Lunch is from noon to 12:30, followed by the Bible Study.

Each week's meeting includes about 15 minutes of study and discussion after lunch, followed by a question and answer period about each book or any related topics.

The "Left Behind" series of novels are conceived by Dr. Tim LaHaye, noted prophecy scholar, minister and educator; and written by author Jerry B. Jenkins. The novels are a fictional portrayal of the events depicted in the Bible of the last seven years until the return of Christ, commonly referred to as the "Rapture" and the "Tribulation."

Leader for the series is New Freedom Sunday School teacher John Myers, a former newspaper editor, writer and photographer. Myers authored a Bible study and commentary column titled "Through A Glass Darkly" from 1978-94, published in newspapers in Moore, Montgomery and Davidson counties, all in central North Carolina. Myers has been a Christian since 1977 and web site designer/developer since 1996 and is now living in Candor, NC.
