New Freedom Baptist Mission of Pinehurst, North Carolina, voted in its second pastor on Aug. 1, 1999, the Rev. Stephen Burrow of Southern Pines. Members voted unanimous approval of Burrow in a business meeting.
Burrow has previously served as pastor of Bolivia Baptist in Bolivia, N.C.; Harmony Baptist in Bunnlevel, Lemon Springs Baptist in Lemon Springs, and as interim pastor of First Baptist of Erwin.
Burrow is a native of Troy, N., has a B.A. degree from Mt. Olive College in Mt. Olive, and is also a graduate of Fruitland Bible Institute of Hendersonville.
Burrow said his goal is for New Freedom Baptist to become a purpose-driven church, a church-building program originated by Rev. Rick Warren at Saddleback Community Church in Lake Forest, CA.
"A purpose-driven church is not driven by the pastor. It is driven by the Word of God. Everything we do must relate to the five purposes of our church:
Former Pastor Greene in Atlanta area
Greene and his family are now in Carrollton, Ga., where he is a Marriage and Family Therapy Counselor at the Carrollton Counseling Center, a ministry of the Georgia Baptist Health Care System.
Greene and his family moved from New Orleans, La., in May 2001, where he graduated from New Orleans Baptist Seminary with a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling.
