Sunrise at Surfside Beach, S.C.

One of my all-time favorite photographic scenes is this series of shots I took of a summer sunrise on Surfside Beach in South Carolina. I've been all over the world -- mostly courtesy of Uncle Sam in the Navy -- and shot sunrises and sunsets in many lands, but I still say it's hard to beat the beauty of the North and South Carolina coasts. I love the beach.

In the first shot, a couple strolls down the beach at sunrise, as the warm rays of the morning light reflect off the wet sand left by a retreating tide.

Capturing the golden rays of the sunrise and its reflected colors on the wet beach throws the couple into a dark outline, creating this pleasing scene.
