Moon over Palm Beach Island

Moon over Palm Beach One evening on Palm Beach Island, Florida, turned out to be quite special. My friend Ron Franklin and his wife Stephanie invited me and two other friends to meet about 9 p.m. at the Palm Beach Island Hilton, and lo and behold, the moon was high in the sky when we arrived.

(I must confess, this is a premeditated photo. Ron had remarked about the full moon, so before I joined the group, I borrowed his tripod, one item of photographic equipment I had neglected to bring along on this trip.)

I presuaded the two ladies in the group to walk down to the ocean shore and position themselves in the moonlight's beam.

With my trusty Nikon's shutter speed set to "bulb" I shot a series of exposures from two to four seconds. This one is probably about four seconds.

Though the tripod was sturdy and still, one can't expect two ladies to hold still for four seconds, so their outlines blurred a bit.

But the blurring gives the two ladies sort of a ghostly, etheral appearance, which seems quite appropriate to that lovely evening in the moonlight.
