I work cheap, but I don't do cheap work. My cheapest rate for building, designing or redesigning and launching websites is $50 per page. If you want less than 10 pages on your website, my minimum website rate is $500, which includes 1-10 pages.

I also offer website hosting starting at $20 per month with XO.com, one of the top companies in the webhosting industry on the Internet. Compare that with your local ISP's rate for web hosting. I believe you'll find it is not only cheaper, it's better.

My $50 per page rate includes creation of basic graphics, logos, et c., and scanning in your photos and graphics, with you providing the copy or text either on paper or electronic files.

(A web page is defined as no more than three scrolldowns or "screenfuls" at 640x480 pixels screen resolution, which is the default screen display for most PCs. This is roughly the size of an 8.5x11" printed page.)

The $50 per page rate is for basic HTML programming, with a Javascript or two, if you like, and Email order forms if you want to sell something. If you want secure Electronic Commerce, or audio or video files, that costs more. How much more depends on how much you want.

If I agree to build your site, that includes my free assistance with registration of your site's domain name, if you want one and don't already have one. (You will own the domain name and will be responsible for the fee of $15 annually thereafter to maintain ownership.)

I also provide hidden "meta tags" with key words for each page of your website, which greatly help getting your site listed with search engines and Internet directories after launch. This is an essential service, if you're serious about doing business on the web. You cannot live in a "Field of Dreams" and assume, "If I build it, they will come."

If you would like to hire me to write the text and take photos for your website, or any other writing and/or photo work, my hourly rates for writing and photography are $25 inside the Piedmont NC area, including travel time, and higher outside the area. How much higher is determined by how far I have to travel.

I also do computer consulting, for either Macintosh or PC, for the same rates, starting at $25 per hour. I don't do hardware work on computers. My expertise is working with Mac OS, Windows NT, 95, 98, 2000 and XP; Office 97/2000 for PC, Office 98/2000 for Mac, Photoshop, Quark, Pagemaker and Corel Draw.

My contract rate for web design/webmaster work starts at $35 per hour. Any position outside the Piedmont NC area requires a minimum 6-month contract and may require a higher rate, depending on location.

I am comfortable working with Macs or PCs with Windows. I started out with Macs in 1988, but learned to also love my first PC, a Windows NT computer in 1996. I do virtually all my web development work now on Windows XP. After all, 95% of the world views the Internet on PCs. But every website I build is optimized for both Windows and Mac viewers. And my beloved Mac is still superior for graphics and desktop publishing, just one more evidence that there is no fairness in this Windows-dominated world.
